What a boy wouldn't do for love!

So, today at school, a girl asked JD to do a trick on a bar (similar to the monkey bars) and he concurred since another girl he has a crush on was watching. His goal was to swing off the bar, do a flip and land on his feet. I know, crazy, but he insists he's been able to complete this trick before! Well, the trick didn't work out as planned. Instead of landing on his feet, he landed directly on his face - no trying to catch himself with his hands, or land on his side, a complete FACE PLANT! The other kids were remarking about the hole his face created in the mulch. He did not cry, but probably should have. When I heard and got to him shortly after, in the school clinic, both sides of his nose were bleeding, his forehead was red, and the rest of his face was black from the dirty mulch he landed on. We got the nose to stop bleeding, removed the mulch from his nostrils and cleaned up his face. We then laughed, a lot, and asked him if it was all worth it in the end! Of course he said no since the tylenol hadn't kicked in yet and his head was pounding. We are thankful he wasn't hurt worse and have enjoyed pulling his chain about it! :-)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween. This year was busy for us, but we enjoyed every minute! Here is a picture of the boys in their costumes!Jeremiah was Toad, JD was Luigi, and Josiah was Mario!

Marks or Memories

This has been a tough week at school. We have a little boy that is very sick. We have all been praying for his healing, but each day seems to get worse. His family is with him at the hospital and we spend each day awaiting more news. I have found myself thinking about him and his family more and more...at home, while I'm trying to sleep, and now even while I'm cleaning! Tonight I was vacuuming the upstairs and I came upon a spot on the carpet. Most people would think that it's just a stain from a spill or something, but to me it's so much more. It's a memory. It reminds me of when Jeremiah had RotaVirus and was hospitalized. This was the "mark" he left the night we realized he was one VERY sick little boy. I have lots of marks around my house...some in the kids' bedrooms, some on my walls, some on my kitchen table. When those marks happen, I grumble about where they found that pen they wrote on the wall with or why they think it's okay to saw the table with a fork, but I wouldn't trade those marks for ANYTHING! I cry for that mother & father and all the marks they will go home to and see everyday that remind them of their precious boy. I ask that you think about those marks you may have around your house and hug your kids extra tight tonight!

Summer Fun

Frank & I have both recently started at FedEx. Frank is still working for Ford, but will work a few hours each night at the airport hub on his way home. I am scheduled for day shift, but do not know definite hours yet. We hope this works out for one of us because the benefits are great!
JD & Josiah's regular season baseball is over. HOWEVER, baseball is far from over! JD made the 8U All-Star team and we are thrilled to spend a few more weekends watching some exciting games. He has 2 more tourneys this month and then we rest for awhile.
Jeremiah has only had one infection since the news of his immunity levels. This is good and summers usually are. We will keep you posted on this since Fall usually is a different story.
The boys are definitely keeping us busy this summer. The weather has been great and we've spent a lot of time outside. We spent the last week just enjoying some family time together and doing things around the state. Here are some pictures of our summer so far:

JD loves catching for his All-Star team!
Josiah and his FAVORITE baseball coach! :-)

Jeremiah & the ID

The Infectious Disease (ID) nurse called this week and here is what she had to say...

Jeremiah's blood work is back. His Tetanus & Diphtheria antibodies were low. They recommended that we get Jeremiah another DTaP vaccine and have him tested again in a month to make sure his levels have increased. This will be done at our Pediatrician. Also, his Natural Killer (NK) Cells were low. Apparently they are supposed to be somewhere between 100 & 1000, preferably in the middle. On round 2 of an antibiotic, his were 77! That puts him at 1.4% when he should be at 4%. If Jeremiah continues to be ill (3 infections or more in a 2 month span), we will schedule another appointment with the ID. At that point they will run some more immunity testing on him and, most likely, place him on prophylactic antibiotics to prevent him from getting so many infections. There is nothing I can do here at home to help boost that level. Summertime is usually Jeremiah's healthy time. I pray it stays that way! I will be sure to keep you posted as to how he is doing and what we find out.

Thanks again for your continued prayers.
